The articles show typical examples of alarm system designs. Obviously, the designs are only typical and your property is probably entirely different in layout. However the examples do provide a good guide as to what is required for the alarm system. All the examples shown can be expanded to include components such as the following.
- Extra detectors - most Control Panels have 8 available alarm zones, however, this does not mean you are restricted to 8 detectors as more than 1 detector can be connected to a zone. Any type of hard-wired detector can be connected.
- Smoke detectors - these are just another form of powered detector. They are usually wired into a zone set as a Fire zone (operates 24hrs). Multiple detectors can be wired into the same zone.
- Internal sounders - several extra internal sounders can be fitted but bear in mind that the bell output is around 1 Amp, but generally 2 or 3 are OK.
- Extra External sounders - extra external sounders can be fitted but they must be configured in SCB mode (most have the SAB/SCB option - see compare external sounders)
- Speech Diallers - speech or speech & text diallers can be fitted to any system but, in order to use the full facilities of the dialler, a control panel with communicator outputs should be used. Such panels include the ADE Accenta range, the Texecom Veritas R8 Plus and Excel, and the Scantronic 9x5x series to mention a few.
